Kranthi Kumar: Biosafety Manager APAC
Kranthi's story at Bayer
After my 4 years of work in other companies, I was looking for a job that allow me to have a career so that I plan for my second innings of my life, which is marriage. Unfortunately, the jobs that I have started with did not have that potential. When I started my job on 4th June 2010 at Bayer, I felt like; I could actually create a career. My Name is Kranthi Kumar Panithi, and I am working as Biosafety Manager APAC for Crop science division of Bayer. I am married to Leenu , a software engineer by profession and our family grew further in October 2016, when we were blessed with our son. We named him Kevin Rufus Panithi.
I have joined Bayer as Junior Breeder. On my first day, after completion of joining formalities at headquarters, I was accompanied to my work place a research site that is 35km away from headquarters in Madhapur. It was noon 2PM, I was too hungry. I was hesitant to ask for lunch. When I reached the site my supervisor shook hands and has directed me to canteen for lunch before any further discussions, this gave me a clue on how good my career will be at Bayer. The canteen facilities in a remote site are just excellent, later we went on a site tour, and I was just fascinated with the research facilities over there. That particular moment, I said to myself "Yes Kranthi! This is the place that you can make a career."
After almost 2 years of research work in one of our important projects related to rice, I was sent to Belgium for training to aid in executing my next level of responsibilities as a Regulatory Manager. That’s how my international exposure started!
In the year 2013 when there was a structural change within my division. I chose Biosafety over Regulatory Affairs as I wanted to continue to contribute to the field of Science. This decision proved as the turning point of my career; it opened up door of opportunities!
During my stint with Biosafety, I got exposure to experience cultures of other countries, learn about their regulatory framework, the way developed countries operate. The subject of Biosafety is close to my heart and is a very important topic for Bayer. I was responsible for Biosafety function in India.
After successful implementation of Biosafety at all facilities in India, Philippines was given as an additional responsibility. Today, I lead the Asia Pacific region as Biosafety Manager. Bayer helped me realise my potential and invested in developing my capabilities. Finally, I would like to end my story by saying “Bayer is a company that really identifies talent and cares for its employees”
This is the place to search for jobs at Bayer India.
